Rittal’s ChillZone App Measures Energy Savings for Industrial Enclosure Cooling

Schaumburg, IL – September 27, 2016 – Rittal Corporation (www.rittalenclosures.com), the world’s largest enclosure manufacturer and a leader in thermal management of electrical, electronic and IT equipment, introduces the ChillZone app, an energy savings estimator for the Blue e+ line of industrial enclosure cooling solutions.

The ChillZone app, which is available for immediate download in the Google Play™ and Apple® app stores, allows users to determine approximate energy savings using Blue e or Blue e+ industrial enclosure cooling.

To calculate savings, the input data includes climate zone (to estimate SEER), model selection/output category, hours of operation/shift model, local electric kWh rate and number of operational units. By optionally adding the specific product number or average energy efficiency ratio (EER) of a competitor’s product, the app will provide a comparative analysis of both annual energy costs and potential savings.

In seconds, the ChillZone app highlights the cost savings in US Dollars and compares annual energy costs between an existing system and the energy-efficient Blue e or Blue e+ system. Competitive products can be compared as well, if the user knows the specific product ID information.  Within the app the user may review regional rebate offers, or request further information from Rittal.

The First Lighting System Designed Just for Industrial Enclosures Perfect Enclosure Illumination

    Schaumburg, IL – September
20, 2016 – Rittal North America (www.rittalenclosures.com), the world’s largest enclosure manufacturer and a leader in thermal management of electrical, electronic and IT equipmented, has added the LED System Light, the first lighting system designed specifically for enclosures.

The innovative LED technology shines into every corner of the industrial enclosure, from the roof to the floor. The new light delivers up to three times the luminous flux of the next closest competitor.

“Having the proper light for enclosures is a tremendous advantage for customers,” said Glenn Wishnew, Senior Manager, Product Management Rittal North America. “Proper lighting means the working environment is safer and the work gets done quicker.”

Rittal accomplishes this with intelligent lighting tailored to the geometry of the enclosure. Light is dispersed through a special optical cover with Fresnel structure, in two designs for precise lighting. The Fresnel lens uses a prism-like pattern to provide magnified light coverage. The cover rotates easily, for adaptive light distribution.  With enormous intensity, from 900 to 1200 lumens, the light provides brilliant illumination.

Installation is simple, with the design integrated into the TS 8 Modular Enclosure. Fast, tool-free assembly on a latching hook system uses a 25 mm pitch pattern of holes to simply latch and secure. Optional screw-fastening is also available, or a magnetic attachment to freely position the light anywhere in the enclosure. The light may be fitted horizontally or vertically with no loss of space in the enclosure. Lights with motion detectors are equipped with a rotating LED board as standard, allowing the direction of the light to be perfectly adapted to any installation situation.

Rotating connectors support installation, even in the most confined spaces. With a swivel option, the light direction can be changed to spot-illuminate any part of the enclosure. Through-wiring is plug and play, and it can be additionally equipped with a socket for available electricity wherever it’s needed for maintenance work.

The LED System Light matches the footprint of fluorescent lighting on the market, and simplifies specification requirements for the market. It is low maintenance and easy on energy as well. The LED Compact lighting is safe, with an extra-low voltage range, suitable for wide range voltage from 100-240 V (AC) and 24 V (DC). It is UL certified.

The newly released LED System Light brings optimum illumination of the entire enclosure. It can be attached a with clip, screw or magnet for a configuration to brighten every application. It installs in just two minutes, and the cable connection rotates a full 90°, not just in one direction like other lights.

Rittal Adds IRU Cage Nut Assembly for Enclosures Saves Time, Requires No Tools

Schaumburg, IL – July 26, 2016 – Rittal North America (www.rittalenclosures.com), the world’s largest enclosure manufacturer and a leader in thermal management of electrical, electronic and IT equipment, has added a 19” Cage Nut Fastener for enclosures to its parts offerings.

This 1RU cage nut assembly is simple to install as an alternative to time consuming capture nuts. It consists of an innovative three-in-one expanding nut that is easily attached using the center nut for the square attachment hole, then secured by hand with the fastener screw. The tightened screws expand the cage nuts to secure the required components. Six cage nut assemblies can be installed in the time it takes to place two capture nuts. And it can be done without tools.

The Rittal Fastener assembly is manufactured from sheet steel with a zinc coating to ensure electrical grounding continuity throughout the structural members of racks and cabinets. Contacts are integrated for potential equalization. The cage nuts are durable and can be reused, moved and repositioned multiple times.

The Rittal Fastener Cage Nut is compatible with 19” enclosure rails that meet EIA 310 standards. Clamping size range is from 1.2 – 4.5 mm.  They are sold in packages of 24 fastener cage nuts assemblies.

Rittal Forms New Business Unit To Support Customized Enclosure Production

January 13, 2016 – Schaumburg, IL – Rittal North America (www.rittal.us), the world’s largest enclosure manufacturer and a leader in thermal management of electrical, electronic and IT equipment, has created a new business unit: Rittal Automation Systems. The business unit was formed by integrating Rittal sister company Kiesling Maschinentechnik, a producer of machining centers for enclosure assembly, cutting centers, automatic assembly systems for terminal strips, assembly tables, and enclosure test units, into the overall Rittal organization.

The new Rittal Automation Systems business unit extends Rittal’s comprehensive range of solutions for panel building and switchgear engineering through key machining and handling technologies. Now with a comprehensive range of equipment available for professional workshop operation, from manual tools to sophisticated fully automated mechanical engineering, Rittal offers a comprehensive, one-stop portfolio for customers across the world.

“The integration of Kiesling into Rittal and the creation of Rittal Automation Systems offers customers solutions to increase productivity by automating previously manual modification and wiring processes. The modularity of the Rittal product lines also lends itself well to automated machining and handling, which makes this a valuable addition to the Rittal family,” said Mike Herzog, Business Manager, Rittal Automation Systems. “The capabilities offered by our fully automated machining centers reduce the amount of human labor required to process modified enclosures which results in time- and cost-efficient production, increases quality, adds repeatability to processes and reduces lead-times to customers.”

The Rittal Automation Systems portfolio comprises a broad range of products, from manual tools to fully automated machining centers.

    Laser center for precise machining

The Perforex BC machining center is extremely precise, and fully automated. It can be deployed for drilling, thread tapping, and milling when machining enclosures. Rittal is unique in offering laser technology to quickly and accurately machine flat parts, and entire enclosures and housings, using its Perforex LC 3D laser center. In addition, the Secarex cutting center rapidly cuts cable ducts and support rails to size.

    Crimping machine simplifies assembly

The Athex automatic assembly machine simplifies a task previously performed manually – it assembles and labels terminals. And for the first time, Rittal’s offering now includes a crimping machine for cutting and assembling cables.

    Robotic systems accelerate wiring

The Averex center eliminates time-consuming manual wiring of mounting plates. Instead, the system offers fully automated wiring in line with applicable standards and safety requirements.

Rittal Automation Systems will leverage two of its sister companies, EPLAN and Cideon, in providing the full complement of Industry 4.0 services in an end-to-end solution for Rittal’s customers. EPLAN provides electrical, fluid power and instrumentation & control CAE products with interfacing capabilities that enable the sharing of data with mechanical design and other 3rd party enterprise systems.
